A Brief Snapshot of Aspergillus Section Nigri Isolated from Brazilian Peanuts and Soil

چکیده

The occurrence of mycotoxigenic species in peanuts is a major concern, and has been investigated depth for many years. However, most studies focus on the aflatoxigenic fungi, such as Aspergillus section Flavi. present study aimed to clarify Nigri, group that harbors capable producing ochratoxin A (OTA), which scarcely peanuts. total 52 peanut samples, collected field from storage, were analyzed. Nigri was isolated 64% 100% storage respectively, 218 strains obtained. Based multiloci phylogeny CaM BenA loci, six identified: A. brasiliensis, niger, neoniger, welwitschiae, costaricaensis, japonicus. incidence ochratoxigenic 5.0% (11/218), only niger welwitschiae able produce OTA. presence OTA found 6 8 with levels ranging 0.106 0.387 0.090 0.160 µg/kg, respectively.

Structural diversity of Aspergillus (section nigri) spores.

The taxonomy of fungal species, similar to that of many other microorganisms, suffers frequent revisions due to the discovery of new species and to the development and gathering of characterization data and morphological information. Morpho-taxonomy helps in the identification of many species. This work presents the macro, micro-morphological, and spectral mass analyses for phenotypic character...

Two novel species of Aspergillus section Nigri from indoor air

Aspergillus floridensis and A. trinidadensis spp. nov. are described as novel uniseriate species of Aspergillus section Nigri isolated from air samples. To describe the species we used phenotypes from 7-d Czapek yeast extract agar culture (CYA), creatine agar culture (CREA) and malt extract agar culture (MEA), with support by molecular analysis of the β-tubulin, calmodulin, RNA polymerase II (R...

Ecophysiology of Aspergillus Section Nigri Species Potential Ochratoxin A Producers

After aflatoxins, ochratoxin A (OTA) is the most studied mycotoxin due to the toxicological significance in human and animal diets. OTA presence has been extensively reported worldwide in the last decade in several agricultural products. The main OTA producer in tropical and temperate climates is Aspergillus carbonarius followed by species belonging to A. niger aggregate. Currently, many scient...

New and revisited species in Aspergillus section Nigri

Four new species, Aspergillus eucalypticola, A. neoniger, A. fijiensis and A. indologenus are described and illustrated. Aspergillus eucalypticola was isolated from Eucalyptus leaf from Australia, and is related to A. tubingensis and A. costaricaensis, but could clearly be distinguished from them based on either β-tubulin or calmodulin sequence data. Aspergillus eucalypticola produced pyranonig...

Isolation and identification of ochratoxin A-producing Aspergillus section Nigri strains from California raisins.

AIMS To determine incidence and levels of ochratoxin A (OTA) in California raisins and to isolate and characterize OTA-producing fungi from California raisin vineyard populations. METHODS AND RESULTS  Forty raisin clusters sampled from four California vineyards in the San Joaquin Valley were analysed for OTA content using immunoaffinity and HPLC methods. OTA was detected in 93% of the samples...
